Suns Hit Buzzer-Beater to Take Overtime Win in Frisco

FRISCO, TX, (Mar. 9, 2017) – The Texas Legends (20-20) went into the first overtime of the team’s season but came up short against a buzzer-beating jumper that sealed the Northern Arizona Suns’ (20-21) 120-118 victory.

Askia Booker grabbed the first and last points of the game, opening with a driving layup to give the Suns the first lead.  Texas took over after two minutes and built as much as a 14-point lead, holding on 34-25 at the buzzer.  Northern Arizona kicked off the second with an 11-0 run to regain the edge momentarily before Texas streaked through nine to go up seven.  The runs continued with a 14-0 response from the Suns who would carry their lead into the locker room.

The Suns controlled the second half until just under five minutes when Bryson Fonville hit a long ball to put the Legends back on top.  With an assist from Booker, Michael Bryson slammed in what would be the final score to take the game to overtime.  With just three minutes to play, Booker hit three baskets with the final coming at the buzzer to sink the home team.

Mavericks assignee, Manny Harris had a game-high 31 points along with 8 rebounds, 2 assists for the Legends. Stephane Lasme finished with 21 points and game-high 11 rebounds, 5 blocks. C.J. Williams packed the stats with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals, and Bryson Fonville andKeith Hornsby rounded off the Legends’ double-digit scoring with 12 and 10 respectively.

The Suns were powered by Booker and Elijah Millsap with 29 points apiece. Josh Gray added 22 points off the bench and Derek Cooke Jr. tied the game-high 11 rebounds.
